In the wake of the devastating conflict that has plagued Ukraine, the Workshop on the Reconstruction of Ukraine is a beacon of hope and collaboration. This landmark event, scheduled for October 31, 2023, from 10 am to 1.30 pm, at Triennale Milano, is a joint initiative by Triennale Milano and MAXXI, in partnership with the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and the Italian Ministry of Culture. It seeks to address the urgent need for the reconstruction of Ukrainian cities and towns, as well as the preservation of the country's rich cultural heritage, which has suffered greatly due to the conflict.
The European Hub for Reconstruction
Building on Italy's extensive architectural expertise and its ability to forge strong connections with European partners, the Workshop aims to establish a European hub for reconstruction. This hub will focus on revitalizing vital social infrastructures, such as schools and cultural institutions, with a strong emphasis on sustainability and innovation.
Italy has a long history of safeguarding cultural treasures through international cooperation, especially in the aftermath of wars and natural disasters. This experience makes Italy a pivotal player in aiding Ukraine's recovery.
Three Stages of the Workshop
The Workshop on the Reconstruction of Ukraine unfolds in three crucial stages:
1. Milan, October 31: The inaugural session at Triennale Milano will bring together influential figures from Italian and Ukrainian politics, architecture, and institutions.
